In today’s fast paced society, stress has become not only an unfortunate condition but part of one’s life. Many people are affected by stress but the best news is that it can be managed and avoided. Being stressed out is unhealthy and it could lead to other complications.
Regardless of the source of stress in your life, complications from it could lead to physical, emotional and psychological hazard. When it comes to defining stress, it can be difficult and what affects another person may not have any effect on another person. In order to prevent the occurrence of different complications in your life, it’s best to avoid stress.

Below are five ways to reduce your stress in your life.

Unplug from your devices
Thanks to improved technology, people have access to several devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops. Majority of people spend so much time in front of the devices communicating via chat or messaging apps, calling each other, sharing photos and videos. While it is great to socialize via devices, it can take a toll on your mind and your body.
Doing this will increase stress levels in your life therefore leading to several complications such as insomnia. In order to reduce stress in your life, you need to unplug yourself from your devices. Instead, you can decide to enjoy some peace and quite in a comfy spot in your home. Alternatively, you can opt to enjoy reading a book or head to the nearest park.

Start exercising
When your body is stressed, it leads to low levels of important hormones that allow you to relax. Dopamine and serotonin are vital hormones that help to ensure that one is relaxed and not stressed. Leading a sedentary lifestyle that forces you to be glued in front of a computer or smartphone or a tablet can increase your stress levels.
To reduce stress, you need to start exercising. This does not mean that you need to join a gym, you can start with simple exercises like walking around the park, jogging around the neighborhood or cycling for a few minutes. Doing so will increase the release of serotonin and dopamine therefore allowing you to be relaxed. Furthermore, exercising contributes to the well being and health of your body.

Laugh always
Laughter is the best medicine not only for tickling your funny but also reducing stress in your life. There are several sources of laughter and some of them include reading comic books, watching comedy shows at the local theater or just telling jokes between friends and family.
Brains are interconnected with emotions and facial expressions therefore smiling and laughing reduces stress.

Meditate
When you meditate, you allow your body and mind to relax and focus. When you are relaxed, you are able to view things from a different perspective, develop self compassion and forgiveness. Meditation can enable your body to release emotions and hormones that allow you to reduce stress in your body. You can even opt to practice various yoga positions.

All you need to have is your yoga mat, your music player playing soothing music and space in your home that is filled with natural light and air.

Take a break
Taking a break from your hectic work can allow you to relax and rejuvenate your energy levels. Working at an office or at home without break will lead to fatigue which ultimately leads to increased stress levels. It is important to take a 15 to 30 minute break after working for an hour or two without a break.

While stress is part and parcel of one’s life, it is important not to make it part of your life. Stress has been known to bring about complications like insomnia therefore it is important to reduce it.
